Sofa transformation…I had to laugh!

So, I was partaking in one of my favorite weekend past times…antiquing.  I came across this sofa in great shape.  It’s always fun shopping with someone with a complete different brain than your own!  My brain?  You guessed it…creative.  My antiquing partner that day…a scientist.  I’m thinking if I could just meld the two brains together it would be a pretty awesome complete brain! I’ll keep mine “as is” thank you very much. I like to envision the outcome of the piece, see the potential too, much like how I see people…I want to bring out the best!

The funny part before I reworked the new old piece…My daughters response, ” Mom, that piece is so ugly, I think my eyes will bleed!’.  I applauded her moxy, now she is applauding the final piece.

The journey to me was the most exciting part to reworking the sofa.  Moving to a new area, I had to do a little research on upholsterers, if you live around the Cincinnati area,  Helen Smith Upholstery, by far, was an awesome experience.  Her studio, like a true artists.  Her work featured in many movie sets, she has such a great eye.

The journey is so much more grand when we savor the people and experiences met along the way.

-Until soon…

About refoundesign

Hi! I obtained a B.S. in Interior Design with a focus in Art History. After working in computer aided design and years of child rearing the embers of artistic creativity are being rekindled and I've begun working a mix of media including photography, folk art painting, and repurposing vintage finds. I love sharing in the joys and inspiration of other creative bloggers as well. Welcome! Heather
